Section Five: Science Fair Projects

Overall Judging Criteria

Overall, judges look for well thought out projects. They look at how significant the project is in its field and how thorough the students are. Judges want to see if the student understands what he/she did , why he/she did it and how he/she did it. Judges also want to see if the student understands how he/she got the statistics and conclusions. Students are encouraged to ask the teachers and/or mentors to make sure they understand what the numbers mean, and how they got them. Judges applaud students who can speak easily and confidently about their projects. Memorized speeches or information will not impress the judges.
